Hell In A Cell (2021)

It's that time of year, that time where we bring out the hellacious structure that is Hell In A Cell. We're doing it a little early this year. Makes more sense anyway. It's hot! However, we've already had one of our Hell In A Cell matches go down on Friday's edition of Smackdown, marking the first time a Hell In A Cell match has aired on Smackdown, as well as on network television. Roman Reigns made relatively easy work of Rey Mysterio, retaining his Universal Championship, but let's move on to this Sunday, when the real Hell In A Cell matches are to go down.

Drew McIntyre is at the end of his rope. Since failing to recapture the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania and Wrestlemania Backlash, he found himself somewhere not at the very front of the line. Kofi Kingston and McIntyre fought over the right to challenge WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, with McIntyre coming out the victor, however the champion declared that if McIntyre fails at this juncture, he can not challenge Lashley for the title ever again. In return, McIntyre challenged Lashley to defend inside Hell In A Cell, to make sure there can ostensibly be no interference. It's do or die for the former champion!

Another saga dating back to Wrestlemania earlier this year continues, or perhaps ends, inside the Cell when Bayley and Smackdown Women's Champion Bianca Belair go to war. Since Belair won the title at Wrestlemania, Bayley has been a cackling thorn in the champion's side, protesting the use of her hair as a weapon. Belair defeated Bayley at Wrestlemania Backlash, however Belair used her braid to assist the pinning roll up. Bayley still can't stop laughing at this rare crutch and the champion who has used it but twice, so Belair is going to try to shut up the challenger where anything goes inside Hell In A Cell!

Raw Women's Champion Rhea Ripley has been riding high since defeating Asuka for the title at Wrestlemania, but Charlotte Flair has returned and she wants her spot at the top back. Between trading insults and two minute beat the clock challenges against Nikki Cross (God bless her, she's doing what she loves,) it's been a game of one-upmanship between the two. The Queen and The Nightmare fight for that top spot this Sunday!

Former WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler had a great run going alongside Reginald until a series of mysterious events often concluding with Reginald being injured caused the champions to become distracted in one such match and lose the titles to Tamina and Natalya. Baszler deduced that these Fiendish occurrences smelled of Blisss and paid Alexa a visit. Alexa, in her playground alongside her friend and doll, Lilly, were addressed by Shayna, who stomped the "stupid doll." Now, it is Shayna who is being haunted by these freak happenings, last seen locking herself inside a room she thought to be safe until she saw Lilly gazing at her inside the reflection of a mirror within the dimly lit room. Shayna goes to Hell, this Sunday!

Yeah, we're still doing this.

Since Seth Rollins returned from paternity leave, he came to Smackdown to share his messianic vision for the brand. He had the whole roster around him, leaving one by one until only Cesaro remained. Cesaro admonished Rollins, and it's been nothing but Hell between the two since. They couldn't kill each other at Wrestlemania, so they're going at it once more at Hell In A Cell!

And that's the card (subject to change.) With that bit of backstory told, let's get to what you really came here for:
