Note To Self: Make Norm MacDonald Appreciation Thread

Today we remember the late, great Norm MacDonald. He passed early toddy after a battle with cancer that ended in a draw.  I'm probably not very good at these kind of things,  but I'll try my best.

Norm was loved by almost everyone knew him or knew about him.  Both in and out of the business.  Infact,  I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone say anything bad about the guy. Norm was known for his very dry sense of humor.  He had a way of building up a thought that had you wondering were he was going with it as he mumbled his way to the punch line.  A punch line that usually caught you off guard and he definetly wasn't afraid to push the envelope.

Many will remember Norm from his weekly gig on SNL's Weekend Update where he almost always had an O.J. Simpson joke ready to go. I would also have to mention with SNL his characters of Bob Dole and Burt Reynolds on Celebrity Jeopardy that were instant classics. He starred in Dirty work which he helped write and was a very underrated, underadvertised movie. Over the years, he had many cameos and hosting gigs, even showing up for a classic roast of Bob Saget. Norm's stand-up comedy was unlike any other comedian and I don't think he'll ever be duplicated. One of my favorite bits is when he describes how he would kill someone to get away with it. It involved luring "Janice" to a white van with a cheese sandwich. Janice played basketball on Wednesday nights with the other gsls at the YWCA... "which is ok nowadays."

I could go on and on about Norm, but I'll save it for the thread.  I'll just leave you with this video of him hosting the ESPY's in 1998. It crazy how unwoke ESPN used to be.
